Video Game Counter Culture – 10/10 Would Too

So it Finally Had to Happen…

I’ve had to start backlogging photos on KillTheNewMedia.com to make room on the site for new galleries, since I have not yet been able to upgrade to a Premium Membership on WordPress. These will be available for $15+ Patreon subscribers, and links to the galleries will posted directly to Patreon.

HERES THE LINK TO KILL THE NEW MEDIA’S PATREON! – https://www.patreon.com/KillTheNewMedia

Cosplay and non-video game culture photos and editorials will be leaving the site first, and the best ones will go in my personal portfolio, which will be publicly available once compiled on a different site. Photos taken by other multimedia artists which need to be backlogged will also be available via Patreon, and posting them elsewhere is their choice to make. However, external links to the galleries they have posted will also be posted to Patreon for $15+ subscribers.

Some changes have also been made to Pledges. Any content that is not video game culture or counter-culture related will NOT be posted to the site, but these photos and editorials will be posted on Patreon for $15 subscribers with private gallery links. This includes convention, cosplay, and high fashion, as well as event and live performance photography.

IN OTHER AWESOME NEWS! I no longer have to attend physical therapy 3 times a week while working a full time day job. This sucked up so much of my time that I could have spent on the site and its content. After 5 months I finally have my life back and its freakin’ amazing.

So expect lots of new content!! I’ll be posting tons of stuff on the site and on Patreon and I’m so excited to share these last few months of music, art, chiptunes, video games, virtual reality raves, neon clothes, pokemon parties, metal shows, and general mischief.

Also, THANK YOU! So many of you have contributed to this site in so many ways. The pledges, the reposts, the video game party invites, the music download codes, the hugs. You’re all so fantastic and your contribution makes this project all the more exciting and really makes this an awesome experience. You da best. ❤

At the two-story bento/sushi/sake-driven dance club, you can find Slime Girls, Cherry Wallflower, Skybox, and Hoshikuzu Kid throwing down cute jams all night with your hosts Aki and Kisa from Central Florida’s convention based maid cafe, Cafe Peko Peko!

Bikkuri Sushi and Lounge is one of my favorite places in Orlando for yummy food, good drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They serve boba milk teas at the restaurant too!), and good vibes ❤ Kira Kira Pop welcomes everyone to have fun, cute time at their party!

The Smell is Fighting their Demolition Notice with Crowd Sourced Donations

The Smell, an iconic all-ages DIY venue located in the heart of LA, and a crucial staple for the LA music scene, is fighting their demolition notice with crowd sourced donations in order to find a permanent home in downtown Los Angeles.

Jim Smith, the owner of The Smell, along with their pool of volunteer staff that keeps The Smell alive, have launched a GoFundMe campaign with a $1.4 million dollar goal to try to find a permanent home for the community that’s spent almost 2 decades at their current location.

They’re not the only ones being forced to leave their building either. Last Friday, the entire block was slapped with demolition notices from L&R Group of Companies – an L.A based group that owns and operates parking lots.

The Smell, which provides a pretty bare set-up in itself, has been an influential venue for an array of indie and experimental artists, performances, and musicians, and a welcoming home for the local communities that surround them. Covered wall-to-wall in graffiti, art, and stickers, as soon as you enter the venue from the side alleyway (yeah, you go in through an alley) you can tell the show-goers who have attended throughout the years were determined to leave a piece of themselves there in some form or another. You’ll also notice that the venue has a no-alcohol policy, but serves coffee, teas, and a variety of snacks instead, to ensure that the venue stays all-ages and no matter how old or young you are, you’ve got a place to go if you want to get weird.

Doing anything you can to share the fundraiser goes a long way, so if you can, tell people about the GoFundMe campaign and #SaveTheSmell!

It’s also home to 8bitLA’s annual chipmusic event, Freq.Fest, which started at the smell 5 years ago and now brings a variety of techy talent from all over the world to LA for three days straight.
